Our history

From an ideato a team.

In a few remarkable months, a group of strangers learned rugby together, became teammates and built an inclusive sporting community in Geneva.

Where it began

A club built together.

Before there was a full season, there was a simple idea: create a place in Geneva where LGBTQIA+ people and allies could discover rugby, improve and belong.

Most of the first Guardians had never played rugby. They learned together, supported one another and shaped the club as it grew - from its identity and jerseys to its place in the wider rugby community.

A first-season snapshot

Six months of momentum.

By the end-of-season celebration on 15 July 2026, the Guardians had grown from an idea into a diverse and active club.

The first official jersey design was shaped collectively and chosen through a vote involving members and the public - another expression of a club identity built together.

A place in the game

Growing recognition.

During its first season, the club built lasting connections across Geneva, Switzerland and international inclusive rugby. Official affiliation with Swiss Rugby made the Guardians the first LGBTIQA+ rugby club in Switzerland affiliated with the national federation.
